HILL SIDE
The brief, for a property on Chilham Square, was to blend creating versatile spaces for both entertaining and relaxation, whilst ensuring the design seamlessly integrates with the Grade II listed house, enhancing its historic charm.
English reclaimed sandstone, meticulously chosen for its character and durability, accents the paved areas and is contrasted well by limestone aggregate used in the main functional zones.
A striking set of diagonal steps gracefully descend to the newly crafted terrace further down the slope. A bespoke pergola, softened with a grapevine covers the new terraced seating area, offering panoramic views of a captivating chalk wildflower meadow, cascading down to the woodland below.
Every plant is carefully selected to thrive in the dry, nutrient-poor chalk soil of East Kent and offers a tapestry of colour and texture to complement the hard landscaping.
CHARLOTTE & TOM, Chilham Square
“David is an immensely talented designer and his transformation of our garden exceeded all expectations. We moved into a house with a damp, dark garden that was sinking down the hill. While we are keen gardeners we didn't know where to start, it was quite overwhelming. However, David has breathed air and light into it and hugely expanded the usably space. His creative design is confident and contemporary but blends beautifully and seamlessly with our very historical house.
Thank you David and team! You brought so much joy to our new home.”
